Ethnic Hair, My daughter is mixed (black/white). We need something to control her hair when it'

My bf/baby daddy wants something we can put in our daughter's hair to keep it weighed down and keep it from getting frizzy. We want it to have a wet curl look. Everytime we leave it down it ends up looking really dry and big and poofy. She has really pretty spiral curls, but when they dry they end up all in her face. How do we keep them under control?

Plase don't listen to the people telling you to get your daughter's hair relaxed....it's not worth it.

Have you tried checking out the Mixed Chicks line of hair care products?

I'm mixed myself....wicked mixed...but I suggest you start using these products on your daughter's hair.

Since bf/baby daddy is obviously black, you/he need to talk to his family about the best products to keep her ethnic hair under control without looking greasy. If that's not possible, the next thing to do is go to a black hair styler.

i wish u said how old ur daughter is that is the crucial guideline. if she is under five do not use chemicals on her head. besides chemicals will straighten out the natural curl.

my daughter is all black and used to have hair like wool and then i begun to use jojoba treatment each time i washed. her hair is softer now and stays neater. get a jojoba based treatment from your supermarket o beauty store. use just a blob on her hair for five minutes, comb thru and then rinse. it may not happen the first time but in about a month u should see the difference. also let ur b/f ask his relatives am sure they have ways of softening without chemicals.

My daughter is also mixed but i am black. i tend to change products on my child, but a good one to start is Liv. It is kind of heavy so try a little dab, mix it with water and apply in sections. the hair should look and feel wet. Comb it through. If it is the texture you want then let it dry that way.

Also another good lighter product is just for me.

Go to your local Walmart or Sally beauty supply they carry a wide array of products for children. Try soft and beautiful or lustre's pink oil moisturizer.

But i found the best trick for my daughter is to slightly wet her hair using a spray bottle of water, then applying grease (a light one like BB growth extra light)

for a little moisture and tangle control, then combing through and letting dry.

hope that helps

im not ethnic but i do have hella curly hair. i use pomade. you can get some really good stuff from walmart on the shampoo isle or you could go to a beauty supply store and get even better. pomade doesnt dry so it give a wet curly look and it keeps the curls from frizzing. it also keeps my hair from getting tangled when i wash it since it moisturizes.

Try using Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizing Lotion.

I'm mixed too (asian %26amp; black)! :] I've also been looking for ways to do my hair %26amp; what to use and such. Anyhoo, I use Motion's Moisturizing Lotion ( maybe a little bigger than a quarter size amount) and then I use either Suave Professional Curls Creme (I don't know the exact name, but just look for a tealish color bottle) or Sunsilk Frizz Ease to enhance my curls (both work well). Then you get really nice curls. :] Oh, I do all of this with my hair wet (not neccassarily just washed hair; I just wet it every morning/day). You can also use mousse too, but if she's young she probably won't need it. Hope this helps!

Oh, and as for shampoo %26amp; conditioner, I'm about to try Garnier, but right now I use the Motions shampoo %26amp; conditioner.
