GET A NUTRIENT DYE. I used it on mine and it doubled in thickness. It didn't last as long as other dyes and had an odd green look till the second wash (dark brown). But my hair was in top shape and HUGE and Shiny and Healthy looking.

I did cry when I saw the green tint, but it was gone after two showers, and their are no harsh chemicals, thus the hair isn't damaged as with most dyes.

Yes, when it is dyed period, not bleached, hair does thicken up a bit. I have bleached my hair and later dyed it. I dye it every 6 weeks (or that is I freshen up the dye) so it doesn't show that salt and pepper look on top and the whole hair has a lighter refreshened look. I love it. I have chosen to give it highlights as well. It is very pretty. Have it done professionally and ask a lot of questions so you can start doing it yourself.
