I'm 54, have brown colored treated hair, want to go natural, (gray, white)?

I've colored my hair for years to get rid of gray. I work in the public eye, but want to find a way to gradually go gray. I've thought about doing low lights on the crown, temples as my roots grow out, then later do some silver highlights to blend in gray into the brown. Does this sound crazy? I don't want to go from medium brown to silver all in one step. Any suggestions?

best thing do is proberly have the low lights in un let the brown slowly grow out , its hard to get silver highlights plus u would have to use bleach to do that and that could damage ur hair .

silver will always look good. it looks elegant and sophisticated. you can blend a low gold high lites so it will blend with gray hair. you can't even tell after that.

have you considered going blonde with platinum highlights after that it could be easier to go grey...they would blend a little easier and the shock would not be as great..

Try a Loreal color remover to get what color is in your hair out. Depending on the quality of the dye, it should return you to your natural color, if not, then a stylist can help you with a blonde and a slver toner to even out what color is left. If you do return to natural silver, I don't reccomend any highlights or low, lights for at least six weeks because color removers can be very harsh on hair. If you do use the remover, rinse it out AS SOON as you see that the unnatural color is gone, otherwise it might begin to lighten your natural hair color.
